The TaxPayers Alliance and pension politics

No-one's favourite libertarian right front organisation the TaxPayers Alliance put out another report on council pensions recently. It is, unsurprisingly, very critical of providing council workers with a secure few grand a year as a retirement income, and calls for unspecified 'reform' of the Local Government Pension Scheme. But quite apart from the predictability of the message, the TPA's report also reveals just how shaky their understanding of pensions is.
